What is YOUR name?

Ever since I can remember I was not fond of my name.  Kids my age had cool and trendy names. And when I would introduce myself, I would have to repeat it for them to understand it. You see, my full maiden name was Barbara Reule (pronounced Ruley).  I hated saying it.  There were one too many R's to say in two words. And most of the time kids would say that I looked like a Katie or a Kelly or Erin.  Barbara just sounded too old. And to this day I will meet women three times my age with the name Barbara.  Never anyone my own age. And when I got married it became Barbara Herndon.  Much better.  But still not so fond of Barbara. I have gone by Barb my whole life.  And just recently I decided to embrace my name.  It was the name given to me with my first breath.  I was named after my Grandmother on my mom's side.  After all, it is who I am. What about you?  What is the story behind your name?
